The Gaeltacht is the name given to parts of
Ireland where Irish (or Gaelic) can still be
heard as an everyday community language.
The ethos of the Gaeltacht is distinct and
different - because of the living language
and, in the Gaeltacht areas, Ireland's rich
Celtic Heritage and Culture can be
experienced in a very different way...
The Muskerry or Mid-West Cork Gaeltacht
lies in hilly, woodland country west of
Macroom town, straddling the Cork-
Killarney road and south towards the lovely
lakeland of Gougane Barra.
