Údarás na Gaeltachta... Responsible for
ú d a r a s n a g a e l t a c h t a
Údarás na Gaeltachta, the
Gaeltacht Authority, is the
regional government agency
with responsibility for the
Economic, Social and
Language/Cultural
development of the Gaeltacht
(Irish speaking) areas of
Ireland. The Gaeltacht areas are
located mainly along the
Western and South-Western
seaboards. They cover
substantial coastal and inland
parts of counties Donegal,
Mayo, Galway, Kerry and Cork
as well as smaller parts of
counties Waterford and Meath.
The Gaeltacht off-shore Islands
are Tory and Aranmore
(Donegal), Achill (Mayo), the
three Aran Islands of Inis Mór,
Inis Meáin and Inis Oirr
(Galway) and Cape Clear (Cork).

language preservation and
development objectives
through job and wealth
creation strategies and a wide
range of community, arts,
language and cultural
initiatives.
