An Chrannóg is a Language and Cultural Centre located in Derrybeg
in the heart of the Gaoth Dobhair Gaeltacht, which has one of the
largest speaking Irish communities in Ireland. The centre successfully
encourages the wider use of Irish through its extensive range of
educational courses and community activities. Research facilities
include a comprehensive library with special emphasis on
publications of Ulster authors, an extensive radio and television
archive and modern language laboratory. Courses in conversational
Irish with special emphasis on Ulster dialect are offered at three
levels depending on fluency already attained. This approach ensures
progress and promotes confidence among learners.
